Corporal Jake Janes

JAKE JANES BENEFIT

On April 3, 2009, while on duty in Afghanistan,
Corporal Jacob "Jake" Janes stepped on an improvised explosive device.  As a result of the explosion, Jake’s arm and hand were injured and his legs were mutilated beyond saving.  Jake underwent double amputation surgery to remove both legs just below his knees. After spending several months at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, Jake has returned to Wisconsin. Corporal Janes, 23, has served in the United States Marine Corp for three years. A 2004 graduate of Evansville High School, Jake served in the Alpha Company of the Second Combat Engineer Battalion.

On Saturday, September 12, 2009, friends, family and the community of Southern Wisconsin will gather for a benefit in Jake's honor. The goal is to raise money for Jake’s future medical and housing expenses through a live auction, silent auction and various raffles. A beautiful patriotic quilt will be raffled off at 8 pm. We hope you can join us in Janesville at the Holiday Inn Express. The doors will open at 4:30, with the live auction starting at 6:30.  The Rock County Pork Producers will be grilling up some porkchop sandwiches. If you would like to make a donation of some type for the silent and/or live auction. please complete the donation form. Donations can be in any amount and your business will  receive recognition on this website and in the auction brochure.  Donations can be goods, services, gift cards, gift certificates or even cash.
